Dried morels from the Himalaya are traded as Gucchi. Himalayan Region™, a B2B sourcing company in Dehradun, Uttarakhand sources them from hill villages, and this page explains how an importer can compare one offer with another.

What the grade really describes
Suppliers use grade names loosely, so ask for the criteria rather than the label:
- Cap size, usually given as a range in centimetres
- Shape, whether the caps are whole or broken
- Cleanliness, meaning how much soil, stem and debris remain
- Moisture, which affects shelf life and the weight you pay for
A sample next to a written grade sheet is the quickest way to see whether two suppliers mean the same thing.
Why supply moves with the season
Morels are collected from the wild in the spring, so volume changes from year to year with weather and snow. We say this early so that buyers plan lead times and do not expect a fixed monthly quantity. Our listed minimum order is 10 kg, and larger lots are confirmed per enquiry.
Documents to ask for
- A Certificate of Analysis for the lot
- Phytosanitary certification where the destination requires it
- FSSAI licensing details on request
- Origin and harvest-year information as far as we can document it
Storing and using the product
Keep dried morels cool, dry and sealed. Chefs rehydrate them in warm water and strain the liquid before use; our chef's notes on safe rehydration are in a separate journal article.
