Export Documents Checklist for Himalayan Food and Botanical Shipments

November 1, 2026  ·  Himalayan Region

A practical checklist for importers: which documents usually travel with a Himalayan food or botanical shipment, and what to confirm early.

Documents decide whether a shipment clears. Himalayan Region™, a B2B sourcing company in Dehradun, Uttarakhand prepares export paperwork for its shipments, and this checklist shows what a buyer should expect to see.

Himalayan Region™: terraced fields and a river valley in Garhwal, Uttarakhand

The usual set

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • Certificate of Analysis for each batch
  • Phytosanitary certificate for plant products, where the destination requires it
  • Certificate of origin, when the buyer's customs authority asks for it
  • FSSAI licensing details for food products made in India
  • Product specification sheet agreed before the order

Items buyers often forget

  1. The HS code that the importer's customs will use. Confirm it with your own broker; classification rules differ by country.
  2. Any import permit your country requires for seeds, herbs or plant material.
  3. Labelling requirements for the destination.

Seeds and planting material

Seed lots sometimes need extra checks, including health certificates for planting material. Tell us the purpose (food, oil or planting) at the start, so the right documents are prepared.

Restricted species

Some wild Himalayan plants are export-controlled. We say so early where a species is restricted and only discuss it where a documented cultivated source exists.
